Publications

Even before I worked in security, everything I published at Bell Labs got marked proprietary, because the leading edge expert system stuff was judged a competitive advantage, hence a trade secret. When I joined the security group, it became proprietary restricted. That meant that it could not be left on the desk at night without someone coming around and leaving you and your supervisor a note that you were not protecting company information. However, at this point, I think I can say without risk of getting sued that I published under my name alone, internally:
  1. two papers on expert systems
  2. two papers on intrusion detection
  3. one paper on how to collect and use network inventory for security monitoring
  4. AT&T Network Security Requirements, Version 3
These were all peer-reviewed as a condition for publication, and are most likely still available through the AT&T Corporate Library, that is, if you have the clearance.
